About They Came Through Mississippi
As a little girl, I grew up listening to my daddy and his brothers telling
stories about their years of growing up in Calhoun County, Mississippi. They
were always mentioning this relative or that one in their stories. I always
thought that these stories were so imbedded in my mind that I always would be
able to recall them. I have found that is not the case, and most of the people
who could help me put the pieces together have already passed on. I started
trying to put things together from my mother and daddy`s memories, Aunt Irene`s
notes, and becoming a pest to all my relatives trying to find out more about
our past. Most of my information comes from older relatives memories, notes,
internet, census, and cemeteries. I have met so many people in my research that
have helped me that it is impossible to name them all here in fear that I
forget someone. All of you know who you are and I again thank you from the
bottom of my heart for all of your help. I have not knowingly posted any false
information, but I lay no claim to being a genealogist so please check your own
facts. What started out as a curiosity and a hobby has fast
turned into an obsession. Welcome to the sharing of my families` history to
the best of my knowledge. So as we Southerners say: `Come on in and visit for
awhile.` and `Ya`ll come back, ya hear.`
